The King Edward memorial funds in London have reached £32,500. Several nuggets, between 2bz and Boz, have been found near Mudgee. Lord Chelmsford, Grandmaster, opened the new Masonic headquarters in Sydney, costing £2000. The four wheat-exporting States of Australia sent oversea during the year 45,522,000 bushels. The Federal Cabinet has appointed nine inspectors to inspect meat at the port of shipment for export. Captain Neilson, of the ketch Victor, fell overboard and was drowned at the entrance to Port Adelaide River. The Trancontinental Railway Bill will be one of the first measures introduced next session in the Commonwealth. The Brazilian Government is disarming the crews of the warships Minaes Geraes and Sao Paulo, who mutinied last week. The Victorian Government statistician estimates the wheat crop at 32,161,000 bushels, an average of 13.71 bushels per acre. The s.s. Mamari, chartered by the New South Wales Government, is leaving Home with 475 assisted emigrants for Sydney and 75 for Melbourne. Through an explosion of gunpowder at Messrs. Perry Bros.' store, Brisbane, three men were injured, and considerable damage done to the building and stock. Mr. Griffith (New South Wales Minister for Agriculture) intends asking the Victorian Government to allow Mr. Edward Mead to visit New South Wales irrigation centres and give the Government practical advice.
