RE THE VICTORIA CROSS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Although in close touch with men who have seen active service on the field, and having been through several campaigns myself on active service as an Imperial officer, and now in the Imperial Army Reserve, I may state that before reading Mr. Christie's letter I never heard there were two Victoria Cross heroes in this Dominion. I am personally acquainted with Lieutenant Hardham, V.C, of Wellington, who won 'his V.C. in South Africa, and well he deserved it, and all should be proud of him. As regards the officer named by your correspondent, I never heard of him before to-night; but if he has the V.C., I strongly support your correspondent's suggestion that he should come forward so that he may become acquainted with the men 'Who might be proud 'of him. —I am, etc*, IMPERIAL.
