MT. EDEN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Mount Eden Borough Council met last evening. Tnerfe were present: Tiie ilayor (ilr O. Nicholsonj. Crs. C. 'i'uuks, J. Davis, R. Burns, W. D. Meikle, C. Hudson, P. Grayson, K. H. Potter, R. I{. liuss, H. Seabrook, E. Yates, and J. Iloocon. Now Itoad. — It was decided to pnrctuue 3atl of 3lrs Mitchells property in Sherboine-road, for £50, aud also decided to accept the new load opening up Mrs Mitchell a prupcrty In the vicinity, provided it was formed, subject to the regulations. Reserves. • ■ The Mayor rei.-orted that when iv Wellington he saw the Prime Minister in reference to the reserves, aud he had asked for a formal letter on the matter, to see whether It would be necessary to formulate fli private bill, or put tlie matcer in the Reserves Bill. It was decided mat formui application shuulii be made to sell the reserves in Mount Eden aud Dominion roads, aow used as Qrebell stations, and devote the money to the erection of municipal buildings.
Debentures. — A formal resolution wes passed that the seal of the borough should be affixed to the 31 debentures of £1000 each, and one of £700, Issued in respect to the authorised loan to be obtained from the N.Z. Staio Advances Department. Street Lighting. — TUe inadequate lighting of Pentjnnd-avenue was recognised, and it was decided to erect a further lamp at the top end of the street. Steam liollcr. — The Local Bodies' Association wrote asking the Council If they would join the Association In the purchase of a steam road idler. It was decided to reply that the Council had ordered a roller of their own. Municipal Building Site. — Mr W. Taylor wrote in reference to the municipal building site. It was resolved to reply that debentures had been Issued, and it was hoped to have the money necessary at an early date.
Water Rates. — The Mayor moved that the City Council should again be approached for a reduction in the cost of water supplied to the borough, and that the City Council, at the same time, be informed that they were occupying a site in the borough for a reservoir for which they had paid nothing. The motion was carried.
The Steam Holler. — Application was received for work on the uew steam roller, and the clerk was instructed to reply that the roller would not be In use for tne next four months, and when it arrived, applications would be advertised for, Tiamway Matters. — A report was presented containing resolutions passed at a recent meeting of the Slount Eden and Dominion road residents, and it was decided that these, with two exceptions She .appointment of an inspector, and the installation of a time-clock — should be forwarded to the Tramways Company requesting the company to gtve them immediate attention. On the Mayor's motion it was also decided that a letter should be sent to the City Council, asking them to allow the company to run minimum-fare cars to Dominion-road and Mount Eden during the hours of fire and nix p.m. ,
