OUTRAGE AT HEREKINO.

A HOUSE DYNAMITED. A dastardly attempt to blow up the house of Mr. Powell, the local county council member, at Herekino, was made on "the evening of bunday, July 10. Mx. Powell and his family had retired to bed about nine p.m., and about half an hour laiter they were awakened by a heavy shocK. Their beds were shaken, and cne room of the house was full of smoke. The people were greatly startled, and hearing a horse galloping off, they called Constable Budd, and tracked the hoof marks. These showed that the horse's feet had been, muffled. On investigation being made, a treacle tin and a long length of fuse, which had been ignited, were found under M.r. Powell's bedroom. The police are following up the clues, and in the meantime the settlers feel in a very insecure positon, as the outrage is believed to be a continuation of the fire-fiend's work.
