MINERS' WAGES.
STRIKE THKEATENBD AT ROS& (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HOKITIKA, Monday. Messrs. Semple and Hiekey, president and secretary respectively of the West Coast Labour Union, have recently been visiting Ross for the purpose of forming a union among those employed at the Ross Goldfields Mine. At a special meeting held on Sunday", it was resolved by 42 votes to 18 to strike at the end of the present month unless the company paid the men at the mine 12/ instead of the present rate of 10/] per shift. The dictation of the union is regarded as a serious matter, especially in view of the many difficulties that the company has had to contend with.
