THE GOLDFIELDS.
THAMES DEEP LEVEL CROSSCUT. The committee of the Board of Management for Thames deep level crosscut met this morning in Mr. J. B. Sheath's office, and decided to accept the tender of Mr. D. Downs for driving 100 feet of the low level crosscut. The price was £2 7/6 per foot. This will enable the work to be proceeded with, pending calling for tenders for the 'balance of the distance to be driven. ROSS GOLDFIELDS. The manager wired that he obtained 64ozb of gold from 1497 trucks, also they were two days short this wash-up, with the same number of men. FREEHOLD. The manager reports that I2lbs. of specimens and 241 bs. of picked stone were secured on Friday. Strong gold was left showing in the face.
