MUSIC AND SOME MUSICIANS.
CHAT WITH MB, CYKIB- TOWSEY. Mr. Cyril Towsey, son of Mr. Arthur Towsey, who has returned to Auckland after an absence of four years, in an interview with a "Star" reporter gave some interesting recollections of Ms association with some of the stars of the musical world. Wiiile he was playing accompaniments for solo work for Sehulz-Curtius and Powell, he came in touch with Melba, Slarehesi, Mark Hambourg, Elman, Kubelik, Busoni, and Pachmann, and travelled all over the British. Isles. Pachmann he looks upon as the ideal Chopin player; his favourite pianist is Busoni an Italian. His last tour was with. Mark Hambourg, Edna Thornton—the famous contralto soloist of Covent Garden—and "Verlet. The finest orchestra, Mr. Towsey said, is the London Symphony, which has no regu--1 lar but. engages the best men, such as Eichter, who conducts nearly all the big works entirely from memory.
Miss Mary Cooper and Mt. Towsey will give concerts here and then go on to fulfil engagements at Wanganui and Wellington. Both, intend to return to Auckland and teach, music
