CHEMISTS' CONFERENCE.

The Federated Chemists of New Zealand continued their deliberations to-day, "when the question of opium sales was discussed. The following motions were adopted: (1) "That sales of tincture of opium by wholesale houses be registered under similar conditions to -those governing retail sales." (2) "That this meeting is of opinion that chemists should refuse to supply tincture of opium to Chinese."
Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr. Len. McKenzie (Wellington); vice-presidents, Messrs. Woollams (Auckland) , , Bonnington (ChTistolrarch.), Schofield (Otago), Williams (Hawke's Bay),Kitchen (Wanganui), and. Sykes (Taran^ki). The balance-sheet, showing a credit, was adopted, and it -was also resolved to affirm the principle of the "New Zealand defence fund, to provide legal defences in cases of prosecution under the regulations of the Pure Food and Drugs Act. It was decided to affiliate with the Australian Pharmaceutical Conference, and to ask the Government to exempt chemists from service on juries.
