PUBLIC RECEPTION TO MR. H. BRETT.

Arrangements have now been completed by the Citizens' Committee for the public reception to be tendered to Mr ! Henry Brett, on his return from England. Mr Brett was a passenger by the P. and O. stfcamer Malwa, which left Sydney for this port on Saturday, and should arrive here early on Wednesday morning. On Thursday evening, in the Choral Hall Mr Brett will be welcomed home at a public meeting of citizens. His Worship the Mayor (Mr C. D. Grey) will preside, and will present an illuminated address to Mr Breve on-behalf of -Ure-p^—hj -t#, Auckland. The Hon. E. Mitehelson and Mr Bart Kent (chairman of the Chamber of Commerce) will give short addresses of welcome, and the Choral Society, Orchestral Society and Liedertafel will provide a choice programme of musical items. The doors will be open at 7.30 p.m., and proceedings will commence at S o'clock. 1
