THE GOLDFIELDS.
GOLD RETURNS. TOTAL FOR YEAR, £1,312,824. JANUARY'S OUTPUT, £103,386. The completion of the returns from the mines on the Hauraki Peninsula for the month of January enables the yield for the year 1909 to be made up, as the final clean-up of most of the big companies, while not announced until the end of January, is really the finish of the year 1909. The returns show that Ohinemuri County yielded £128,799 2/5, Thames County £19,116 13/3, Coromandel £SSOB 16/11. The latter does not, of course, include the January return from the Old Hauraki mine.
