; ;,.: ' : epiiPANY,: assets. . <Py,, Te7egraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) ' WELLINGTON, this day. It is the intention of,the Government to proceed Avith tne Defence Bill, and the Prime.Minister is sanguine. of its prospects. When progress' was reported in committee on . the bill, exception was being taken to /clause 26, providing that on disbandment of volunteer. companies tjie assets 'and liabilities shall pass to the Crown. Some members'' urge that many of the. assets of the various corps were the direct outcome of the efforts of. members, and they resented the proposal that the Crown should receive the proceeds. When the bill next gets into committee the Premier will move to amend the clause so as to provide that, on disbandment assets and liabilities of corps shall pass to the corps, leaving the company to fix up its own affairs. , .
