WAIHI NEWS.
(By Telegraph.—Otto Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. At the usual monthly meeting of the Waihi Hospital Trustees last evening, the Medical Superintendent (Dr. Robertson) reported for Jane that 28 patients had been admitted, 29 discharged, 12 operations, deaths nil, ana 29 at present under treatment; also, that the recently-appointed masseuse had taken np her dnties. The following tenders were dealt with:—Drug supplies, referred to Medical Superintendent; carting, Beaton and Cole (accepted); funerals, Saunders (accepted). Accounts amounting to £300 12/1 were passed for payment. A cheque valued at £30 2/ was received from the promoters of the recent retired r. present football representatives, representing the nett proceeds of the match. The secretary (-W. H. Toy) submitted the following statistics in connection with the Hospital:—Male beds available 17. female 17, infectious 2, total 36; average number of patients per diem. 29.58; number of patients on 31st March, 190S, 23; admitted during the year, 421; total under treatment, 444; discharged during the year, 392: died 26; collective days' s-tay, 10;673; average daily cost per head, 6/7J; patients' average daily payment, 1/6; average daily cost per head after deducting payments, 5/1$; weekly fee ■for maintenance, £1 1/.
At the Police Court this afternoon ■William Uddy was charged by the Police with disobedience of an order made under the Industrial Schools Act. The Beuch sen--1 tenced accused to one month's imprisonment, warrant to be suspended till next Court day to allow accused au opportunity of doing something.
