WHANGAREI, Monday. At the Police Court this morning a man named Ernest Mathers, for a second offence of drunkenness within six months at Hikur rangi, was fined 10/ and costs. ; The victim of the recent child beating ' case, Allen Tait, is now in a fair way to ' recovering normal health, under the kind attention he has received at Mrs Jobbits' boardinghouse. where he has been temporarily placed by the police. At the time . of his rescue be wa6 scantily supplied with H clothes, but through the kindness of several ladies and gentlemen in the town, this has i now been remedied.
