The annual presentation of prizes In connection with the Blrkdale Anglican and Presbyterian Sunday School took place last Wednesday evening, and was largely al - tended: The Rev. G. Y. Roby presided. The annual report was read and commented on by the superintendent, Mr R. F. Kay. Various Items were contributed and games. Indulged in, supper concluding: a very enjoyable, evening. .1 . NEWTON SCHOOLSY. COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting was held In the Newton-TWjes't. School on Wednesday. 17th Inst. Present:' Mr C. H. Sexton (chairmen), Messrs White, Healey; James, Read, Bottrlll, Brlnsden. aud Holdsworth. The roll attendance for the month: Newton East: On the roll 949, average attendance' 896. Newton West: On the roll, 826; average attendance; 748. Grey Lynn: On the roll, 222; .average attendance, 201. The headmasters' half-yesrly staff reports were read, p and- all".proved very satisfactory. Accounts for £40 were passed for pay T ment. " ' •< COSTLEY HOME ENTERTAINMENT. An enjoyable entertainment was given to the.patients in the Infirmary ward at the. Oostley Home, Epsom, last night, by Mr. and' Mrs. Xewcombe, who brought out one of their- best, gramophones, upon which they gave, over SO selections, which Included all the latest songs, recitations, etc. The en-, tertalnimeut, was much enjoyed by. the patients, who' showed their appreciation lh a'very marked mariner."r Prior r tor leaving Mr. and Mrs. Newcombe, were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
