No sooner had the terrible news of - the wreck reached Wellington than the "Graphic's" special photographic representative in that city set out for the coast, and oh Saturday and Sunday secured some pictures, the APPALLING REALISM of which brings the disaster befora as with terrible vividness. "The.small bay near, Terawhiti, where the most of the bodies came ashore, forme the subject of a fine full-page picture, and this, 'arid others of the wreckagestrewn inlets, show the pitiless ruggedness of the rocky coast where boats were dashed: to pieces and the, bodies of "the poor victims battered almost '-out' of 1 ' recognition. ■.:-■■;■■■■:■■■ -.. i Another interesting picture shows the bay where the survivors on one of the rafts landed, and the raft itself. is. seen in the middle of the picture. The illfated vessel herself is shown on the patent slip in Wellington after her" previous -mishap. There, is a group of some oX the. survivors, and. the-six pages: devoted to the wreck form an interesting if melancholy record of this terrible tragedy of the sea.
