CBy Telegraph.—Press Association.* WELLINGTON*, this day. Mr Justice Cooper to-day sentenced Gilbert Langdon (19 years of age) to two years' imprisonment on charges of stealing a horse and theft of cattle.
DUXEDIN, Wednesday.
At the Supreme Court to-day the case against Geo. Edward Smith and Charlotte Elizabeth Smith, charged with having ill-treated a girl under the age of 16 years in a manner likely to cause her unnecessary suffering, was continued. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, and sentence was deferred. Jas. Wood was acquitted on a charge of committing a criminal assault at Duntroon. DUNEDIN, this day. In the Supreme Court to-day George Edward Smith, for ill-treating his sister-in-law, was sentenced to four years' imprisonment, and Charlotte Elizabeth Smith, his wife, to twelve months.
