ADDE3SS. - TheßeV: David Bussell. of Soutn Africa,' wbo Is lecturing in Auc'iiaci] under the' auspices of the T.M.C.A., was 'entertained at luncheon yesterday by £Ue directors and the.; -Mission Committee of the. .Auckland branch of the organisation. In the"evening Mr. Russell delivered an instructive and capable address to a largs audience in the lecture hail, speaking on' U.».° a.M.C.A. w«ik in the United' Kingdom, AmSKSj Africa, and Australia. He left by the express for .Botorna to-day, and reterne to town on Saturday, to commence a"foar days'- mission from Sunday next, in Uis Majesty's Theatre, in connection 'with the Y.3LC.A. SALE OF WOBK. • A sale of work in connection with the Newton Branch' of the Salvation Army; and in aid of the self-denial appeal, , will be opened in the hall, Ponsonby-road, this evening. The fair- has- beea .prepared by a strong committee of workers, including a number from the brass and timbrel bands, maternity home, ; and children's Sundayschool, the workers from the-Sunday-school are responsible for running the side shows, of which there are many - attractive features, including'"Wonderland," a gift tree, and' numerous , competitions. : The stalls include those for the sale, of plain.and .fancy work, of which a capital.display is on exhibition". "The stallholders are as follows:^ — Band stall, Bandmaster"Gower; 'timbrel stall, Bandmistress M. Boulton; sweets stall, Mesdames Powick and Russell; maternity home: officers', stall. Adjutant Eobins and staff. The fair will be open to-morrow and Thursday. . SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION. A series of meetings under the' auspices of the Auckland Sunday-school Union, commenced last'evening, when a conference of teachers'was held in the.Bcresfdrd Hall, at which Mr F." Andrews presided.' The'difficulties met,with in Sunday-school management' were considered, a paper .being contributed' by Mr Robinson on "Marking Attendance, etc." .To-night the annual meeting of .the - union' will be held in. St. James' HalC- . :.. EAST-STREET MISSION HALL. \ ■In connection with the ceremony of laying the memorial stones of .the East-street Mission Hall on Saturday, a reception was given by the officials in the Wesley Hall, at which a large number attended. Vocal items were given by • Miss Moon and Mr Bagnall, Mr T. E. Midgley being the accompanist.. The Mission y Orchestra several selections,. and two recnauons were "given by the Bey.- J. Wilson. :. Afternoon tea was banded round*by the ladies. The hall was decorated and furnished very tastefully for the occasion. It may also be mentioned that ; the four blocks of marble .were presented,' two by Mr Booskill, and two by Mr Parkinson. The silver trowel was also donated, by. Messrs Beid Bros.
