VICTORIA'S INTENTIONS.
(Received 10.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. • With reference to the cable from Lon--1 don, stating that the Victorian three and a-half per cents have declined one per ' cent owing to inquiries for a loan of a million being made outside the usual channels, Sir Thomas Bent, the Premier, states that the Government has not offlci- • ally made inquiries in London regarding » new loan, and has no intention of doing 1 so. ! It_ is understood that unauthorised in- ' quiries have been made by a Government official regarding the possibility of raising ■ the money, and this has been interpreted to mean that the Governjnent is anxious to float a loan.
