Bagnall, and Dr. Itoberton. Dominion Day Medals. The secretary reported that 300 medals had been forwarded for the boys, and -J»4 for the girls, attending the Grammar School. It w.b decided to forward the medals to the school. Resignation. —Miss Blades resigned her position as a mistress at Ihe Grammar School, after if) years' service. She asked I to be given leave of absence until the end 1 of the year. This was agreed to. and on the motion of Mr Tole. it was decided to) forward a letter expressing the Board's } regret at loosing Miss Blades' services. Eden Terrace District.- The Chairman! said that £14S 11./fl had been collected by the Eden Terrace in rates, and £S0 7/10 had been eipendrd. The Property Committee recommended that no further contributions be made towards the expenses of the Eden Terrace Road Board. The Chairman said the property had passed from the Board under lease for 50 years, and if anything was to be contributed, it should be by the holders of the leases.

St. David's Church was well filled last night, when Mr Kdwarrl S. Crnston. Mns. Bar., gave an organ recital. " He was ably assisted by Mrs Arthur Myers iMayoress of Anckland), Miss Alison Mndge. and St. David's Choir. Myers played two violin solos In pleasing manner, and Miss Mudge's votce was heard to great advantage in the solos. "The Way of Peace" (Lloyd), and "Prostrate Before Thee" (Handel).

SALE OF WORK.

A sale of work in aid of the Indian Mission and Cbureh funds was opened in the Ponsonby Baptist. Chiireb schoolroom yesterday afternoon. The display of work comprises a -number of tasrte_ully-arran(je«i stalls, on which are exhibited a choice assortment of plain and fancy work. Indian work, anil other articles. The fair has been prepared by the ladies of the church, with Mrs. North as secretary, and the charge of separate stalls has "been undertaken by the Ladies' Sewing Guild and the Yonng Ladies' sewing meeting. The sideshows inclnde various games and competitions, while musical programmes are being submitted. The sale of work will be closed this evening.

"ITIS MOTHER'S PORTRAIT."

A service of soup with the above title was given in the Cnnftregatlonal Ohnrrh, Onetannca. on Wednesday night, hv tlie Methodist Church Choir. Mr E. Sutherland, the new choirmaster, conducted, and soon proved that the mantle of his predecessors had fallen upon good shoulders. The solos were very efficiently rendered hy Mrs R. I—ikinir, Miss McMasters,* and Messrs Ted and S. Breeze. Clear enunciation and good time marked all the choruses. The concert was made complete by Miss SometJyille'g able services at the organ. Sir J. I_j_in_ read the connective narrative.

Th? Auckland Shakespeare Society appear to-night at the V.M.C.A. Hall iv ••Much Ado About Nothing." A smoke concert, in connection with the Ponsonby District Football Clnb, will be held, in the Training Hall, Dicnan-street, next Friday, at which also a presentation of «a3s will be made. The Rev. R. B. S. Hammond, Editor of the Australian paper, "Grit," will be welcomed ln the Central Mission Hall to night. Mr Wesley Spragg will preside.
