Nortn and Sonth Islands, but no club J , shall be entlrled to have challenge classes for the same breeds in any two consecutive yeais, sne mat no dogs imder 12 months be pllgible for competition." Two otlier rather important suggested alrernlions to rue rules of the N.Z.K.O. were also ordered to be forwarded, viz.: —Rule 22. page 54. add after "class competition. CIVIL SERVICE ASSOCIATION-

A social meetiiir of the Auckland Branch f>f the Civil Service Association was held in the Federal Hall Club Rooms last night, >lr H. R. Spencc presiding over a large" attendance. The eaairiuan expressed pleasure at the large and representative gathering, and remarked that the Association, formed two years a;o, was rapidly becoming an extensive and powerful organisation, lie went on to refer to the recent conference in Wellington, at which Mr Fraser McKenzie and himself had been the Association's delegates. The Am-klsuid brunch, in point of membership, ranked second to Wellington, the northern institution having a roll uranber of 230, ont of a total for the Association of abont 800. The organisation was not in any way antagonistic to the Government, but all that was alroel at was the recoznition of their just right;. The proceedings opened with praj-er, after which the president extended a warm welcome 10 visiting deleRates. Mrs Phimmer read the report of the Ponsonby Union, which stated that the rradle roll had been a prominent part of the nnion's work. The report was adopted, as aiso was a report read by Mrs Yeats regarding house to house canvassing. A petition from the Maori Girls' nome was read, inviting a lady to visit the home and jive a short address. Mrs Wilkinson (Devonport) reported that very nsefnl work had Been done -in canvassing for the rolls. Interestin? letters were read by the hon. secretary Sirs Christie) from several auxiliary i brandies of the union.
