CUSTOMS RETURNS.
The Customs duty collected at Auckland during the month of July amounted to £G0,549, a.s against £66,967 for the corresponding month last year, a decrease of £61 IS. The beer duty totalled £2037, compared with £1753, an increase of £254.
The principal exports were as follow, the figures for July of last year being given in parentheses:—Gold, 25,644 ozs., valued at £114,415 (36,108 ozs. and £145,552); silver, 119,491 ozs. and £12,077 (116,740 ozs., and £12,155); butter, 1652 cwt., £9407 (1503 cwt., £7705); cheese, 21 cwt.. £71 (3 cwt., £13); beef, 540 cwt., £715 (8565 cwt., £11,005); lamb, 169 cwt., £405 (740 cwt. £1415); flax, 212 tons, £4872 (73S tons, £21,049); tow, 9S tons, £614 (346 tons, £3575): kauri gum, 309 tons, £16.926 (924 tons, £60,427): hides, 327, £352 (3598, £3579); skins, 55,567. £ 120S (20.544. £ 1726) ; tallow. 148 tons, £3865 (193 tons. £5920); timber, 1,009,590 feet, £5909 (2,635,304 feet, £13,226): wool. 160,191 lbs., £4191 (170,519 lbs., £8942).
