(By Telegraph.—Press association.) ' INQUESTS. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. An inquest was held this afternoon on the 'body of the man Turley, who was found lying on the rond outside Strathmore Hospital on Friday afternoon, suffering from injuries to his head, and who died in the Christchurch Hospital yesterday. The jury returned a verdict that the deceased met his death through injuries received by a fall from a trap while in a state of intoxication. ASEBUBTON, Monday. At the adjourned inquest held to-day on the death of A. H. Penny, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the Somerset Hotel on the 7th inst., the jury, after receiving the report of the Government analyst, returned a verdict that deceased committed suicide by taking oxalic acid while temporarily insane. ALLEGED ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A roan named Jas. Ward, who was found lying on the riverbank on Saturday night suffering from an overdose of chlorbdyne, was charged this morning with having attempted to commit' euicide, and was remanded to May 16. DIRTY BANKNOTES. . WELLINGTON, this day. • In consequence of representations made to the heade of several banks by Dt. Mason, Chief Health Officer, an assurance has been given that their officers will be again instructed to withdraw all dirty notes from circulation as they are presented. MB G. G. STEAD'S, WILL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHJRISTCHURCH, this day. The will of the late Mr G. G. Stead has been ' certified for probate at £176,000. The estate is left to his four children in equal parts, but the sum of £1500 a year is left to Mrs Stead, who has the right of residence at "Strowan" on the Papanui-road. A sum of £500 is left to each of the deceased gentleman's two sisters residing in South Africa, and £500 to the daughters of a sister who, died some time ago.
