THE MAYOR OF AUCKLAND.
ME. MYERS , RE-ELECTION.
A mayoral record for Auckland has been established by Mr. A. M. Myers in being returned as First Magistrate of the City for the fourth year in succession. At last night's meeting of the City Council the communication from the Returning Officer announcing the election linopposed of Mr. A. M. Myers as Mayor of Auckland for a. further term of office, was received with applause.
Mr. Myers said it was unnecessary to say he appreciated very much being returned for a fourth term of office. He recognised at the same time, of course, that it carried with it very great responsibilities, but with the knowledge he had already gained during the last three years, and the able assistance always extended to him, he hoped to be able to bring to a successful conclusion the many important matters that had engaged their attention for some time past. There was still the abattoirs; the extension of electric light, which there was no ; doubt, would be a permanent and profitable venture; the acceptance of tenders for the new town hall, and the completion of the Grafton bridge, as weft as, of course, the all-important drainage scheme and its natural corollary, Greater Auckland} but with their cordial co-operation he would be able to deal with the whole of those important matters in a satisfactory way, and in the best interests of the citizens of Auckland.
