Greece has submitted to toe Porte proposals to establish the junction of the Plraens-Larissa and .Salonika-Monastir railway, thus pro-riding the shortest route from Great Britain to the Par East. [[The Piraeos-Larissa runs from the Piraeus (Port of Athens) to the city of Larissa in the far north of Greece and some eight miles from the mountainous Turkish frontier. Salonika is 75 miles further north in a direct line (aid perhaps will be 100 miles -by railway owing to the jcecessary detour round the Gulf of Salonika), while Hpnastir, in the heart of Macedonia, is already in communication with that jport.
