AUCKLAND CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING The Auckland Golf Club's annual meeting was held in the- Chamber, of- Commerce, Swanson-street, "on Saturday night, Mr. J. H. Upton, vice-president, presiding, over an attendance of 30"members. The arinnal-re-port stated that the past season was a very successful one. The membership stood at 209. The accounts for the year showed a profit of £141. The most important event during the past 12 months was tlie purchase of the freehold property at Otahuhu, known as Mlddlemore, containing 142 acres. In -view of the impossibility of entering into any satisfactory .arrangement.with the One-tree ■Hill Domain Board, the club was to be congratulated upon having secured a property upon which excellent links could be laid out. One-third of the purchase money (viz., £2300) was readily raised by debentures from the members of the clubj and until possession was obtained the interest on practically the whole of these debentures -was being paid by the vendor of the property. The attention of the incoming committee was directed to disposing of the clubhouse and freehold at a satisfactory price, and .upon terms which will enable the club, before giving np possession, to arrange for some preparation of the new ■links. The report was "adopted^ The election of. officers resulted as fol-lows:-President, Sir, John Logan Campbell (re-elected); ■ vice-presidents, the J Hon. *S. Thome George (re-elected); Mr. «r. H. Upton (re-elected) and Mr. Jas. Kirker; captain, Mr. Geo. Bloomfleld; ' comrrittee. Dr. H. D. BSmford and Messrs; Aitken Carrick, W. B. Colbeck, H., Gilfillah, and W. Heather; rlion-. secretary and treasurer; Mr. W. W. Brace. With-regard to the Otahnhu property, Mr. W. B. Colbeck sfated that before it became fit for play the club would have to dispose of their present property and expend from £500 to £1000 on the new links. The committee was instructed to deal with the question of the. disposal of the One-tree Hill land, vand that they shonld submit the ■best offer to a special meeting of the whole club. OPENING.
