A special meeting of the Qtown Lands Board was held at 2.30 O'clock this afternoon for the purpose Htf approving of the applications received at the ballol for lands about a fortnight ago. Under the amendment of the Laad Law, passed last session, it is provided that out of the applications received for Crown Lands, the ones irom tisose who are landless shall be given psieference. Tha first ballot in Auckland under this system was held recently, ami decision waa adjourned until the recjadsite inquiries had been made to ascert/to which of the applicants were landleg and therefore entitled to preference."
