THE LATE MR. JOHN FITT.

_ The funeral of the late Mr. John Fitt took place yesterday afternoon. A large number of well-known citizens attended to show their last mark of respect to their esteemed fellow townsman. Amongst those present, were Mr. Frank Lawry, M.P., the Hon. W. Beehan, M.L.C., and members of the Parnell Borough Council. For many years past the deceased had been an enthusiastic and practical supporter of the Parnell Fire Brigade, and the members of the brigade were present in uniform, under Captain Cowan, to act as pall-bearers. The officers and members of the Loyal Parnell Lodge of Oddfellows were present in regalia, and formed a guard of honour. Floral tributes included wreaths from the Parnell Council and staff, and other local bodies, with which the deceased had been associated. Innumerable messages of sympathy have been received by Mr. Frank Fitt, tendered to his mother and family, including telegrams from the Right Hon. Sir Joseph W T ard (Prime Minister), Hon. James Carroll, Mr. A. M. Myers (Mayor of Auckland), and several members of both Houses of Legislature. The Rev. Father Kehoo conducted the last said rites. The chief mourners were j the deceased gentleman's sons and grandsons.
