THE AMERICAN FLEET.

INVITED TO VISIT NEW ZEALAND. Prior to the notification having been received in Australasia of the American Government's acceptance of the invitation of the Federal Premier, Mr. Deakin. to the American fleet to visit Australia, Sir Joseph Ward communicated with the authorities, both through Big Excellency the Governor and the American ConsulGeneral, Mr. Prickett, extending a cordial invitation to the fleet to visit the Dominion. Sir Joseph expresses the opinion that all citizens of the Dominion would be pleased to see the fleet in our waters, and that nothing would be let undone, either by the Government or the people of the Dominion, to make the visit thoroughly enjoyable.
