TWO YEARS AFTER.
SKELETON FOUND NEAR River. HEAD. As an indirect result of the recent cafe. - a tragedy of 1906 has been discovered near Riverhead. It appears that in November of that year Mr. J. Wilkr " 0 f Pukeatua, gave a night's accommodation and a supply of food to a wandering gun, digger named John Pollar, who, though" he left in the morning in apparent good health, was never afterwards seen alive Owing to the effects of the storms on his' house, Mr. Wilks was searching for a better site for his home about the end of last week, when in tne midst of a clump of pines he stumbled over the ekeleton remains of his guest of two yeari ago. The spot was only about 300 yards from Mr. Wilks' house, and a carefcl examination of the skeleton threw no light on the manner in which the unfortunate man came by his death. The police were notified, and at an inquest held before Mr. Johnston, J.P., an open verdict was returned.
