(From Ou? Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. The North Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met to-day. The Chairman (Mr J. Vaughau) expressed regret on behalf of the Board at the loss of the late Mr Harding Hawken, and it was unanic mously agreed that a message of condolence ! be sent to Mrs Hawken and family. Mr Kernohan was elected to till the vacancy. Mr Powell, the third member appointed to 1 represent Northern Wairoa. also took his seat for the first time. Mrs Smith, matron '| o£ the Whangarei Hospital, tendered her I resignation, which was accepted wi.ti rej sret, and she was voted one month's salary !iu recognition of services. Miss Dickson, 'I at present in charge of the Mangonul Hos- ! pltal. was appointed to Whangarei, vice '; Mrs Smith, at a salary of £00 per annum. • j Tenders for the new hospital at Rawene c | were received, and the lowest tender, that lof Mr ,7. Worsnop, £14S0 IS/, was accept- • ! cd. The Northern Wairoa Hospital defi- ' j cicnej- for IOOS-1000 was estimated to be ' \ £246. It was agreed that this amount be I paid. Accounts were passed ■ : paying £128 11/ S. At a meeting of the Whangarei Harbour Roard a surplus was shown from wharfage dues. The engineer recommended an extension of the town wharf eighty feet . down the river side. He was instructed to j inspect the wharves and report as to the I cost of repairing them.
