MOKAU RIVER TRUST.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MOKAU. this day. The yearly meeting of the Mokau River Trust took place at Mokau last night. Mr. Xichols (chairman) presided. Mr. Jennings, M.P., Mr. Percy Smith, ex-Surveyor-General, and Mr. A. Kelly were also present. The record of the year's proceedings showed that the snagging operations up to the coal mines at Maryville had been successful. Three steamers are now trading on the river. In consequence of rapid settlement during the past three years up to Totoro, the Trust has decided to proceed with the clearing of the river above Maryville, 22 miles from Mokau, up to Totoro, 44 miles from Mokau. Mr. Jennings was authorised to engage expert opinion as to the best course to pursue.
