BOROUGH COUNCILS.
The ParneU Borougn Council met last evening. Borough Boundary.—The City Engineer wrote stating that he had been unable to recommend the City Council to approve of the plan of the boundary between the city and Parnell, as he could not agree with the line laid down. He had, however, recommended that the two bodies should confer with a view to taking action for the securing of an amending Order-in-Conncil fixing the boundary correctly. The letter was referred to the Borough surveyor. Water Consumption.—The turncock reported that 2,636,000 gallons of water, had been pumped during the last three weeks. Mains.—The turncock pointed out the necessity for having the main, which it had been decided to lay on the north side of Manukau-road, across Garfield-street, connected with the Avenue first, the reason being that since the Khyber water had been turned on to the Avenue, the pressure on the higher levels had decreased. —The matter was referred to the Waterworks Committee. Street Widening.—On the motion of Cγ. Woods it was decided that a deputation consisting of the Mayor, Crs. Fitt, Lundon, and the mover, wait upon the Minister with a view to asking the Government to grant a portion of land, 15 or 20 feet wide, from the tunnel property, to widen the Parnell entrance to the Domain. Mr Woods remarked that the place was exceedingly dangerous, and one man had nearly been killed there.
