HARBOUR BOARD COMMITTEE.
The following matters were dealt with at the meeting of the Harbour Board (vS , mittee yesterday afternoon in addition t* what appeared in last evening's issue" -° Compassionate Allowance—Captain p~ t Lander waited upon'the committee with « ' gard to his request for a compassionaS allowance being made to compensate him In respect to an accident which occurred L the wharf, owing to which he was laiHS for four months. He stated that on th 13th of March, this year, at G. 30 'a£ *S was on duty, and walked across to 'rt. chains to unhook them, when the bolt tm+i cd, and he was thrown to the lower landS' Hβ was laid up until the 31st of AnrnJ" He received half wages from the comSanv during that period. He still. suffered™a little from the effects of the accident Tt had cost him £7 to £S for the doctor Mr Napier suggested a compassionate a! lowjince of £30, but that was not seconded Mr Dacre proposed, and Mr Kneen second ed, that £15 allowance be made, which it was agreed to recommend to the Board's consideration. ..-..' Poasonby Regatta Club.—lt was declaed to recommend the Board to reply to the Ponsonby Regatta Club's application for a donation, that the request cannot be acceded to, as already the amount available this year had been exceeded by £8 10/ Mr Kneen pointed out that if the Harbours Bill went through then the application might be renewed.
