THE ELLERSLIE ACCIDENT.

DEATH OF MR HARROP.

The death occurred at four o'clock yesterday afternoon of Mr Joseph Harrop, who was injured by being run over by a train at the Ellerslie railway station the previous evening. Mr Harrop was naturally suffering severely from shock, and, subsequent to the amputation of one of his legs, rendered necessary by the nature of the break, he gradually sank, dying at the hour stated. Mr Harrop, who was 5S years of age, leaves a grown up family. He was highly esteemed and respected by all with whom he came in contact.

An inquest was opened at the hospital at 10,30 o'clock this morning, but was adjourned after formai evidence of identification bad been given until 10 ajn. on Thursday next.
