AMERICAN HORSESHOES.
(Received, 5.22 a.m.) LONDON. September 5. The Secretary of State for War (Mr. R. B. Haldane) ordered the Army horseshoes from America after several British firms had installed a special plant in order to cope with the orders. One firm was compelled, as a consequence, to dismiss twenty workmen. [Complaint has been made of the giving of a large contract for horseshoes to American manufacturers.]
