, The Commissioner of the Auckland Railways League -writes as follows:— "A3 the day was veiy fine when I reached the Kaipaxa Flats last Thursday, I decided to walk over the line from where the ballast train ran to, and see how the work on. the line was proceeding, and to send a report of what I saw. The ballast train can now run fully half a mile ewer the third (and last) bridge, a distance of fully one and a half miles beyond Tuhua; the line now is clear and ready for the rails as far as Wayby, with the exception-of a very small catting which, they hope to finish next week, and a slip that will take about one or two days to dear. The overseer of works told mc they hoped to be at Wayby with the rails in three weeks from date, a month at the outside, and that they could carry mails and passengers through in six weeks' time. There is one mile of road finished between Wayby and Wefeiord, and ready for the rails, and all the rest is under way.
