'Received 9.3 a.m.) PARIS, July 9. —he military airship, "La Patrie," Bade many successful flights across Paris at the rate of eighteen miles an hour against the wind. The vessel has been sent for service on the German frontier. Other similar dirigibles are being built.
BERLIN, Jnly 9. -£ ox many months past Germany has heen experir aenting with dirigible mili«ry"balloons by night.
I La, Patrie" is a very large, cigarBhaped dirigible balloon, and must not be e~-used with the aeroplanes, which now seem to be so near success in the nands of M. Santos-Dumont, who was also the Mrentor (in the autumn of 1901) of the first steerable balloon. In the latter respect, however, the success of M- Santosf>urnont was surpassed in 1905 Toy Messrs. -ebandy, -whose airship at Toulon carried otrt evolutions over the forts and batteries in a remarkable manner. Messrs. Lebaudy presented their craft to the ™aon, and the Ministry of War subse-S-sitly ordered three others. One is now ®jie Fianco-German frontier as a . waj__g__ p .>>]
