WAIHI AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WATTU, this day. A large and enthusiastic meeting ot the committee to advance the interests of technical education -at Waihi was held last night, the Mayor presiding. Mr Harper was appointed secretary of the' meeting, and read voluminous corres-> pondence dealing with the proposition, and the results achieved by similar schools elsewhere. On the motion, of -Mr Donaldson it was decided to ask-the Borough Council to grant £300, upon which a subsidy will accrue amounting to another £300. It was also decided to ask the members of the deputation who are going to Wellington on behalf of- the. Borough to endeavour to secure from the Government a further straightout vote of £500, making £1100 in all. .Seeing that the Government has voted £ 5Q0.. to. Whangarei under similar conditions it is confidently anticipated that the grant will be obtained. It was arranged that, a deputation, consisting of the full committee, should wait on the Borough Council with a view to obtaining their grant of £300. ■-...;
