(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) 1 THAMES, this day.. ■ In the Police Court this morning, Samuel Quadri was charged with using obscene language and resisting the police. It was stated that the accused was drunk last night, and was cautioned by the police, to whom he made use of bacl language. When arrested by Constable Berry he fought violently, and the assistance of Constable Beddes had to he obtained. The prisoner still resisted, and not till he was handcuffed was he removed to the gaol. Quadri was fined' £5 or three months for the obscene lan-, guage, and £10 or three months for rer sisting the police. The results of the examination held under the auspices of the St. John's Ambulance Association in first aid are now to hand. Six candidates presentedthemselves, and all passed in the firstclass, viz:—Mis'se~s Criß, Daldy, Hansen, Noble, L. Smith, and Walton: Classes in nursing are to be started
