MISTAKEN IDENTITY.

ANOTHER REMARKABLE CASE

Another remarkable case of mistaken identity has cropped up in Sydney. On Sunday morning a man was found unconscious in the street, and died in Syd■ney Hospital. The police had descriptions of the deceased published, and as a. result a man ident;iled the remains as those of John McDonald Brown, aged 61 years, who resided in Crown-sti'eet, Woolloomooloo. Mrs Brown, too, was confident that the dead man was her husband. A number of others were equally positive that ir was John Brown who was dead, and the body was placed in a coffin, and made ready for burial. On Monday night, however, it was all found to be a clear case of mistaken identity, for the " dead man" was discovered alive and well in Ms lodgings. This was when Mrs Brown went with the police to take j>ossession of *~s effects. The question of who the dead dian was was not solved till Tuesday afternoon, when Mr Trible, of Phillipstreet, called at the Detective Office, and reported that Frederick Ernest Crone hud been absent from home since Saturday night. A description of the deceased was furnished, and Mr Trible thought it corresponded with Crone's appearance. The body was brought back to the morgue, where Mr Trible saw it, and at once pronounced it as that of Crone. He was 48 years of age, and had gone out on Saturday night, with the intention of doing some shopping.
