BAGIAM. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The local butter factories have commenced operations with every prospect of a; good season. THe winter has been a very) good one. The cows are in fairly good condition, the grass is coining on well, and: the price of butter is exceptionally good. The Te Mata Company have sold, outright* and the liaglan Company have consigned, Mr Dent, from Denniston, who lias purchased Mr Curtis' farm at Jiauroa, arrived; with his family by steamer last wselc, and) takes possession at once. There is a brisk demand for dairy farms, and the local land agents are busy showing? would-be settlers around. At a meeting, of ratepayers convened, by? Mr Edmonds, Councillor for the Waingaro Hiding, it was resolved to borrow £3000 for* the purpose of metalling some of the worse parts of the road between Raglan and Waitetnna.
