AVONDAIvE JOCKEY CDUB'S SPUING
The local racing season opens in earnest to-morrow (Saturday), when the Avoadale Jockey Ciub commence their spring meeting on the club's course at Avondale. For the first time in the history of members of Tattersall's wUi not be allowed to ply their calling, and speculation will therefore be tarried on solely per medium of .the totalisator. The acceptances received lor the various events are large, and some «ood racing should result, especially in the Avondale Stakes, the first two-year-old race ol the season, in which keen interest is evinced. The Held in this particular event promises to be a record one, and their training work has been of a very even character, so the task of trying to sort out the winner is not an easy one. The following horses ".ue suggested as likely to run forward in their respective engagements:— Mauieu Plate: Pearl Necklet or Ca-eliuca. Handicap Hurdles: Aqua Regia or Defender.
