MR. CHAMBERLAIN'S BIRTHDAY.

MESSAGE FROM THE QUEEN. BIG MEETING IN BIRMINGHAM LONDON. July 10. The speakers at the demonstrations at Birmingham yesterday spoke of Mr. Chamberlain's strenuous Parliamentary activity, and his devotion to national and Imperial ideals. He has been the recipient of a great number of congratulatory messages, including one from the Queen; also telegrams from the colonies, and hundreds from the London Stock Exchange. Mr. Chamberlain delivered an address at Bingley Hall in the evening, and there was present an enthusiastic crowd of 10 000 people. Prior to speaking he received over 100 addresses of congratulation. He delivered a vigorous speech, in which he reviewed his political life, and indicated his attitude on the great problems of recant politics He insisted that he had strengthened the bonds of union of the Empire, which was the highest object of statesmanship. He was confident the reforms he had advocated would be achieved, and, personally, he was satisfied with the way things were moving in that direction. The British Empire League, at a meeting yesterday passed a resolution unanimously tendering Mr. Chamberlain heartiest congratulations on his birthday. t
