Dr. Hozier arrived: last night from Whanjjarei. Dr. Holt arrived from the Island* by the Manapouri to-day. The Rev. Isitt left by the Wait Coast boat for the South to-day. ~SvLr.se Scott was a. passenger by thi* morning-"* express to Te Awamutu. The Eev. Walker was a passenger from Whangarei by the Ngapuhi last evening. The Eev. J. M. Thomson was on Thuraday last appointed by the Taxanaki Presbytery as Moderator for the fellowing six months. Mr Alex. J. Reid, whose name appeared yesterday in the list of those who successfully passed the dental examinations recently held in Wellington, is the son of the late Rev. Alexander Reid. The friends of Mr George Hyde, Government valuer for the Waikato district, will be sorry to learn that he is at present in the Auckland Hospital suffering from typhoid fever. By the Rarawa this morning Mr and Mrs Pitt arrived from the South, and left by train for Rotorua. Accompanied by Mr and Miss Angliss, they leave on Monday by the Mokoia for Sydney. Mrs Geo. Dickinson was presented by the pupils of St. Andrew's Sunday-school, Cambridge, on Sunday last, with a Bible and concordance, on the occasion of her retiring after 17 years of Sunday-school teaching. Mr. Benjamin, late secretary, treasurer, and trustee of the Whangarei Rowing Club, was on Monday night presented by the members with a ease of pipes, a silver match box, and pouch, at a farewell social in his honour. Captain R. E. Smith, of the Mokoia, has handed over his ship to the temporary command of Captain R. Neville, late of the Moana, while he is away on holiday leave. Captain Smith arrived from the South by the Rarawa this morning. Mr Lyman L. Pierce, who has recently been appointed general secretary of i the Melbourne V.M.C.A., arrives in ] Auckland to-day by the Sonoma. Mr i Pierce comes from Washington (D.C.). i where, as secretary of the Association I there, his work was attended by marked J success. Should the Sonoma arrive in I time, there will be a meeting of the members of the local association to i meet Mr Pierce, who will speak to mcmi bers and their friends in the fcoeial i Hall.
