LOOSE LEAF LEDGERS.
I (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. An important case having reference to loose leaf account hooks has just been decided by the registrar of patents, Mr. F. Waldegrave. The question to be decided was whether an application for a patent made by Mr. H. M. Douglas, of AVellington, had been anticipated] opposition to the granting of the patent being brought by Mr. F. W. of Auckland. The litigants are rival manufacturers of loose leaf ledgers, and j both appeared to give evidence. Air iHeiiry Hughes, counsel for the opponjeuts (instructed by Mr. Barnett of j Wellington, and Mr. JBasley-. of Auckland), produced numerous kinds of loose leaf ledgers, and explained them to the registrar. Messrs. Baldwin and Ravward (for the applicant) claimed that there were material differences between Douglas' ledgers and those cited as anticipations. The registrar decided that Douglas' application for a patent should be granted.
