MOUNT ALBERT ROAD BOARD AFFAIRS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—A letter written by Mr Murdoch appeared in your columns a fewdays ago in which lie complained of the unsatisfactory dealing of the Mount Albert Road Board. The facts of the case are as follows: William-street, formerly Albert-road, was taken over by the Road Board some few years ago, before the law compelling landholders to make roads and footpaths through property for sale was in force. The road has nine houses on it. all within a distance of two hundred yards. The rates collected annually amount to somewhere about £40 sterling. Would you believe it possible. Sir, that during the last three years not one penny has been spent to make the place passable? The late chairman at the ratepayers' meeting , made a most astounding statement: "Theugh there are twenty-seven miles of roads in the district we have given each of them a fair share of attention." If one could only prevail on the Board as a body to promenade the said Wil-liam-street after dark some winter evening their language would probably be more forcible than politp. Seriously speaking. Sir, this mater is one that cries for remedy. It affects the comfort of about twenty adults and thirty children. Just fancy this terrible injustice in an aristocratic (?) suburb like Mount Albert!—l am, etc., , «,u S - T - A STLEY. Mount Albert.
