EPSOM ROAD BOARD.
The Epsom Bead Board met last evening. Present: The chairman (Mr W. R Blomfield) and Messrs S. Hesketh, J. Edgerley, A. McDonald, and T. Grainger. Footpaths.—lt was decided, in response to a petition, to put the footpath on the- western side of Marama-avenue into ■ order. A number of complaints concerning other paths were referred to the Works Committee. Troublesome*-. Stormwater.—The foreman of works was instructed to report as to what should be done to improve the drainage of Firths-road, as stormwater flowed on to it and flooded the land. Lighting.—ln response to a request made by Mr F. C. Jones on behalf of 19 contributors, it was decided to erect a street lamp at the corner of Albert-road and the Drive, the cost of the erection having been subscribed; A Newmarket Offer.—A communication from the Newmarket Borough Council intimated that their fire brigade would be available for attending fires in the Epsom district on payment of 2/6 per man for the first hour, 1/6 for the second, and 1/ for the third or fraction of an hour. The charge for the .appliances would be £3 3/ for each fire! It was decided to defer the matter for the consideration of the newly-elected Board.
