MILITARISM AMONG SCHOOL CHILDREN.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. At the Education Board meeting yesterday, Mr Hogg, M.H.R., iv opposing school cadets being called out for ceremonial parades, said he thought they were really going too far with this spirit of militarism amongst school children. Some parents were absolutely opposed to anything in the shape of militarism. It was not right that infantile soldiers should be created, simply because of the prevalence of military fever. Telegraph officers were compelled to join the volunteer movement, otherwise they would get no increase in salary. Those responsible for this condition of things were not in their proper senses. A worse condition of affairs prevailed here than in Germany. This spirit of militarism was to be severely deprecated.
