TALISMAN -QQNSPLIPATED, £12,851 FROM 2950 TONS. During the 13 4ays' crushing, ended 31st January, 1906, the Talisman Consolidated. Limited, crushed and" treated some 2950 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued.at 15/7- The cost per ton, was •£!• 19/9- made up as follows development, 9/8; min.ing, 14/1 ; milling, 13/9 j general ■• expenses, 2/3. The cost for this period is unusually nigh on account •of the necessary repairs and alterations efected during the Christmas holidays t mine and mill. . .
CHAMPION. The question of making a road to the Champion mines came up at tho meeting of the Thames County Council yesterday. Mr. J. Stevenson forwarded, for the information of the council, a letter from the Minister for Mines stating that £__a 0 had been authorised to the Thames County for the work. Tha Minister's ;letter stated further: "It is considered that this sum will be sufficient to repair the old Puriri track and construct a side track to enable machinery to be brought to the battery site. Should however the amounli authorised not -be enough for the "purpose, any application. th_~C6unty ..niay .make -for an additional grant of. a, reasonable sum that may be required to complete .the tracks will be "favourably considered. ."'.'",_".' ..."
