ANOTHER BATCH OF IMMIGRANTS.

137 ARRIVE BY THE ATRSHIEE.

Another large batch of Immigrants arrived from the Old Country by the steamer Ayrshire. In ail there are .137 foT the principal centres in the colony, and of this number some fifty-four are settling in the Auckland province. The majority of the remaining eighty-three are for Wellington, and there are a few for Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, and the Bluff. The new colonists are of English, Scotch and Irish nationality. They are mostly married couples with young children in the majority of cases. The average age of the adults is between twenty and forty, and the children range from babes in arms to boys and girls of 12 Or 13. The men are principally farmers and mechanics, and they ■have been attracted to New Zealand by the reports that had been received of the prosperity of the country and the satisfactory -conditions under which the employment of labour was regulated. One old lady of 79 Was an object of interest to those who saw the long stream of passengers landing from the boat this morning. It was ascertained she was-a native of Shetland Islands, and with her children and grandchildren had decided to. come out to New Zealand. They are making Auckland their future home.

The Ayrshire brought the following steerage passengers from England for Auckland: Misses G. Style, Nicholson (2), E. G. Hamilton, Bellingham, Mesdames Collett, A. Webster, Turpin, M. Ellison, Maxwell, Gilles, Nicholson (2), J. W. Wilson and two children, W. Abercrombie and child. Agar and four children, Boderij' Bellingham and two children, Messrs. John Collett, R. Prentice, 'W. C. Webster, George Ellison, J. B. Maxwell, George W. Dobson, A. W. Dobson, W. Nicholson, Nicholson (3), P. AHhur, J. W. Wilson, A. Green, W. AbercromWe, W. Agar, T. Vanes, E. Boden, A. Hamilton and three children, A. W.-R. Bellingham.

To-morrow at 12 noon, Mr J. Thornes sells by auction at his land sale rooms, Queen-street, several properties in city and suburbs, comprising residence 7 rooms Graffcbn-road, four building allotments at Richmond, residence 6 robins -Mt.
